Bill and Pat Murrell's 2004 Trip To France.

France

After an overnight with our friend Pauline, we went to France by train.

Eurostar

Waterloo Station where we got the Eurostar Channel Tunnel train to Paris

Eurostar Seating

The seats on the Eurostar are MUCH more roomy and comfortable than the airplanes. I would recommend this for any trip between London and Paris.

Veiw from our bedroom

This is the view from our bedroom in the chalet. It was a beautiful thing to wake up to in the mornings.

Our first day hike

We hiked about 5 kilometers on our first day at Nevache.

The Chalet

Emmanuel and Nicole have a 250 year old chalet

At the watering hole!

The water at the chalet is not drinkable, so we got it in the village

Moonrise

One evening we caught the moon rising. You may see the foreground lightly lit in this photo.

Another hike

Another hike but this one started up farther into the canyon

These next set of photos were taken at the Louvre in Paris. This is one of the worlds best collections of art.

Venus DeMilo

Winged Victory

Winged Victory is the emblem or symbol for the Louvre.

Mona Lisa

Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa is probably the best known of all the art works.

Georges de la Tour

Pat's favorites are those painted by Georges de la Tour. Notice the illumination by candle.

France

In Paris we stayed at the Campanile Hotel in the Levallois-Perret quarter. The room was small, but had a comfortable bed. The price of the room did not included breakfast. For a French hotel, this was very reasonable in price. The company has many hotels around Europe. It is a short two block walk to a Metro station and we could get around Paris very easily.
