Bill and Pat Murrell's 2004 Trip To Kenya/Tanzania.

Kenya

We arrived in Kenya August 9, 2004! Our first stop out of Nairobi was to the Mt. Kenya Safari Club. The Club was run by William Holden and now by Stephanie Powers.

Bill giving testimony

We attended a Kikuiu Presbyterian Church one Sunday. I told about seeing so many stars and how God promised Abram that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars.

An offering being auctioned

Not everyone who goes to church can donate money. One congregant gave two live chickens as his offering. Bill bid $10US for this chicken on the condition that if his bid was the winning bid, he did NOT have to keep the chicken. His was the winning bid!

Kenya Airlines DASH-7 Aircraft

The Kenya Airlines DASH-7 that took us to Masaai Mara. Our flight attendent was a Kamba woman by the name of Eunice.

DASH-7 in Masaai Mara

The DASH-7 landed on a gravel strip in Masaai Mara. Our bags were unloaded and we were left there for our connecting flight. There were no buildings around and all the other people on the flight were taken to other lodges. We waited for about 15 minutes for our next flight.

This is the beginning of the takeoff roll for the DASH-7 that left us here.

On our way to our camp

We have been picked up and are on our way to our camp at Siana Springs. The trip took about 20 minutes and we were no more than 1500 feet above the ground during the flight.

TRAVEL IMMUNIZATIONS

We obtained all of the travel immunization from Dr. Brian Terry of The Healthy Traveler Clinic in Pasadena, California. The office is located at 1250 East Green Street, Suite 100, Pasadena, CA 91106, Telephone 626/584-1200. The Clinic's website is www.healthytraveler.com. When you come in to his office, you tell him where you are going and when. He consults with the Centers for Disease Control website to confirm his initial opinion of the inoculations you will need, then discusses it with you. We were very impressed with the way he runs his practice.

Initially my PPO denied the immunizations, so I filed a grievance with my insurance carrier, Blue Shield of California. They approved the immunizations and covered them at the HMO rate of just $10!

A personal testimony about Dr. Brian Terry's technique for injections: I have NEVER before had so many injections at one time, and NEVER felt any of the needle sticks. I watched him give injections to my wife and he is so fast I could not follow the movement from 5 feet away. His technique is the best I have ever had used on me. If you are even a little squeamish about injections, if you close you eyes, you'll never know it was done.
